Why Should I Get Sedation Dentistry?
If you've been avoiding the dentist due to anxiety or fear, sedation dentistry can change your perspective. It's a safe and effective way to ensure you get the dental care you need without the stress and discomfort. It's also ideal for those who have a low pain threshold, can't sit still in the dentist's chair, have very sensitive teeth, or need a large amount of dental work completed. With sedation dentistry, you can maintain your oral health without the anxiety that often comes with dental visits.
Did You Know?
Sedation dentistry is also known as "sleep dentistry," although patients are usually awake unless under general anesthesia.
BENEFITS OF INVISALIGN
Invisalign doesn’t disrupt your smile because the clear aligners are unnoticeable and blend in with your teeth. Even when patients need to get Invisalign attachments bonded to their teeth, these are made of tooth-colored resin that blends in with the teeth and is covered with the aligners.
Invisalign is much more hygienic than braces because you’re able to remove them to thoroughly brush and floss. This also prevents food particles and stains from being trapped in your aligners, since you take them out before eating and can easily clean the surfaces of your aligners.
When patients wear braces, they need to avoid many of their favorite foods that are hard, sticky, or crunchy because they can break or get stuck in their braces. You can enjoy a restriction-free diet with Invisalign. The pressure exerted on your teeth is also greatly minimized thanks to our Smart Track aligners which place gentle pressure on your teeth.
Invisalign is also associated with fewer appointments and faster treatment times.
The Benefits Of Sedation Dentistry
Reduces Anxiety and Fear
Sedation dentistry can significantly reduce the anxiety and fear associated with dental visits. It allows you to relax and feel at ease during your procedure, making your experience much more pleasant. This means you no longer have to dread your dental appointments, which can encourage regular dental visits and improved oral health.
Minimizes Pain
One of the major advantages of sedation dentistry is its ability to minimize pain. The medications used during sedation dentistry numb the area being treated, so you won't feel any discomfort during the procedure. This is a huge benefit for those who have a low pain threshold or are undergoing a particularly painful procedure.
Allows for More Work to be Done in Fewer Visits
If you require extensive dental work, sedation dentistry can allow your dentist to perform more procedures in fewer visits. Because you're relaxed and comfortable, your dentist can work more efficiently without causing you discomfort. This can save you time and make your dental care more convenient.

The Sedation Dentistry Treatment Process
Consultation and Planning
The first step in the sedation dentistry process is a consultation with Dr. Moetaz Homsi. During this consultation, he will review your medical history, discuss your anxiety levels, and explain the sedation options available. He will then create a personalized treatment plan that suits your specific needs.
Administration of Sedation
On the day of your procedure, the sedation will be administered according to the method chosen during your consultation. This could involve taking a pill, inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas), or receiving an IV sedative. You'll begin to feel relaxed, comfortable, and ready for your dental procedure.
Dental Procedure
Once the sedation has taken effect, Dr. Homsi will perform the dental procedure. You'll remain relaxed and comfortable throughout the process. Due to the effects of the sedation, you may not remember much about the procedure once it's over.
